A WAY OUT has always identified itself as a Christian organisation, but what does this mean in practice?
Well, we have gathered together some of our thoughts around what we think it means to be a christian organisation and why we do what we do. At the moment this is a draft guide and we would love to hear your thoughts around this.
So, we believe that being a christian organisation means that the motivation for the work we do comes from the Christian faith. Our understanding of who God is, and how he calls us to live and work in the world, is the foundation on which A WAY OUT's values & activities are built.
Christian principles that influence our work
- Loving - God's love for every human being is unconditional
- Compassionate - God cares passionately about each person and responds with compassion to human suffering
- Inclusive - no-one is excluded from God's love or can put themselves beyond it, he accpeting and inclusive of all people
- Excellence - Gods desire is that we do all things to the best of our ability
- Integrity - God gives us an example through Jesus, of living without sin or wrong doing
- Patience - God never gives up on anyone and has no time scale for change
- Just - God seeks justice in every situation
- Grace - God gave his son Jesus, as a sacrifce for mankinds wrong doings, this is thought to be the ultimate example of grace
We understand the practical outworking of this faith to be expressed in our Core Values.
While the leaders and trustees of the organisation share this faith motivation, we welcome people of all faiths or none to work with us, asking them only to be fully committed to the Core Values of our work.
Alongside our core values, we have practical themes from the Christian faith that form a foundation for the areas in which we work and the activities which we deliver.
Being healthy
- God created the body and desires that we look after it, A WAY OUT therefore helps and promtoes healthy living
Staying Safe / Well being / Enjoy & achieve
- Gods ultimate desire is that we live a whole life, free from poverty, abuse & harm - A WAY OUT therefor promotes, empowers and educates people to live a safe, whole and enjoyable life
Change & Trasnformation
- There is no one beyond help, we all have the capacity to change - We work with those who's lives have become unmanageable with the belief that through rehabilitation work, counselling & interventions, peoples lives can be changed around
Reaching the Hard to reach & Most Vulnerable
- Gods desire is that we go out to those who are the most, at risk, vulnerable and needy. A WAY OUT is committed to reaching the most hard to reach and marginalised within our society.
