Community Hubs

photofoodA Way Out would like to thank everyone who has been involved in and supported the Community Hub project through volunteering, collecting food and providing support for clients in many different ways. We could not have achieved ALL that we did without ALL of your help.

It is with sadness that that A Way Out has to confirm the closure of our Community Hub Project Foodplus+, which has operated in Stockton town centre, Port Clarence, Thornaby and previously in Ragworth since April 2013.

The project was initially funded by a generous, non-recurrent grant from Public Health which has enabled us to support over 750 households in various ways including receiving food parcels, referral to other supportive services and establishing a much appreciated social environment.

It was the intention of A Way Out to seek further financial support to sustain the continuation of the hubs past the time when the Public Health funding came to an end and we are pleased to have been able to keep the project alive for a further 3 month period without direct funding. However we reached a point, where with no other funding available, the regretful decision had to be made to close the project.

A Way Out is proud of all that the staff team and volunteers have developed in touching the lives of so many.

An anonymous feedback comment from a client sums up both our pride and sadness;

‘I have received a lot of help from the Hub that I would not have got from anywhere else, nothing is too much trouble for the staff and volunteers. This service has helped me to improve my life in all ways – a great help, Thank you

We welcome all volunteers involved to come and be a part of our programmes working with Women and Youth so you can continue to make a difference to the lives of so many. Thank you for the amazing work you all do. See our volunteer options.
