“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them he has set the world.” 1 Samuel 2:8
The Bible mentions the poor over 300 times, a clear indication of how important people really are to God. People are poor in so many different ways, and the word doesn’t seem to cover the diversity within poverty. But whatever way you look at it, we are called to serve the poor and the needy, the broken, and the sick. We are called to be light in dark places, and bring hope where there seems to be none.
There are so many ways to respond to the call to serve, and A Way Out offers an abundance of opportunities to serve the people on your doorstep who really need your support. We can offer you the means to excercise your passions and gifts in a supportive and professional environment, working with people who are vunerable and hard to reach.
There are so many ways that we can help you reach the poor and in need practically. We offer training, and access to our established projects to equip you to step out in the community. Whatever your interest, there will be a project that is suited to you. From youth work, to womens drop in and outreach, from food banks and community hubs to mentoring young people one to one.
